Few people like going to the dentist and having to pay for the privilege is a good
reason not to. Even under the NHS which, believe it or not, still accounts for
around 70% of treatment carried out, patients have to pay most of the cost. Private
fees are unregulated and can run to hundreds - or thousands - of pounds.
Over 2 million people now have some sort of cover to help with the cost of dental
care and insurance-based schemes have experienced significant growth in recent
years. Dental cover is the fourth most popular benefit within flex or
voluntary plans.
